A Halcyon-class Cruiser, the Pillar of Autumn was one of the few UNSC ships which managed to flee Reach as the Fleet of Particular Justice began to glass it. In its escape, it made a fast slipspace jump as a Covenant ship pursued it. It ultimately wound up over Installation 04, known more commonly as Alpha Halo.

The Truth and Reconciliation is a CCS-class Battle Cruiser, belonging to the Fleet of Particular Justice. It was one of the few that were able to pursue the UNSC Pillar of Autumn as it fled from the planet of Reach, going on to behold Installation 04. Now, it serves as a de facto base of operations for the troops on the Ring as they search for a way to ignite it, thus beginning the Great Journey.

Created by the Forerunners millenia ago, this massive ring-world has gone unknown for some time as it stays over the gas giant Threshold. However, due to a hasty slipspace jump made by the UNSC Pillar of Autumn, the Sacred Ring has been found. Now the Covenant and the Marines fight one another -- one group trying to find a way to light the Installation, the other trying to stop them. But while the two groups trek the surfaces of the Ring, a terrible force stirs, ravenous from ages of sleep. The most nightmarish things are often found under the cover of holiness.

Anywhere in the vast reaches of space, though the battles are most notably around Earth -- and the MAC stations. The protection wasn't as foolproof as the designers had hoped, but with the aid of the various ships fighting out of the cannons' kill zones, there is at least a chance of stalling a Covenant ship, though they still may very well break through.

The Humans' homeworld, Earth, has finally been found by the Covenant. However, it would appear the Prophets didn't know this, didn't know the Humans existed there. A confused and surprised Covenant force runs rampant through the streets of Mombasa, Africa, New and Old. The UNSC won't let them go without a fight.

The Covenant's revered Holy City, this massive structure is defended by fleets of equal size -- it is, more or less, their homeworld. Powered by ancient Forerunner technology, it drifts through space, giving the warriors of the Covenant somewhere to stay and make ready for battle.

The Covenant Loyalists have returned for a second assault on Earth, while they attempt to find a Forerunner artifact left behind on the Humans' planet. However, a new hope has been given to the UNSC, in the form of a shaky but existent alliance with the Covenant Separatists. Together, they fight against all who would remain with the Prophet of Truth, progressing to drive them off of the planet once more, if not obliterate their numbers in entirety.

At the rim of the Milky Way, there lies an enigmatic Forerunner structure: Installation 00, The Ark. From the Installation, one could remotely activate the entire Halo array. Long ago it served as a haven to those who survived the initial firing of the Halos, but now it may serve as a massive casket. The Covenant Loyalists want to activate all of the Sacred Rings, to start the Great Journey. The Covenant Separatists and Humans have to, by any means, stop them from committing mass suicide, as they nearly did before.
